In August 2014, I fulfilled a long-awaited dream of owning a Chow Chow puppy, and then got another one in 2016! These photos are of Sophie (Liquorice Allsorts of Bonnieblyth). She was born in June 2014 and she’s absolutely superb, such a quiet, gentle, spotlessly clean dog. She has an outstanding temperament and lives very happily with our other 6 dogs, 3 cats and a rabbit. Sophie can hear a kiss from a hundred paces away – if any of the others are getting a kiss, she’s right there looking for one too!
She qualified for Crufts at her first show in January 2015, and we had fantastic days at Crufts in 2015 and 2016. She doesn’t really enjoy showing though (she fell asleep in the show ring the last time, with actual proper snoring!) so she has ‘retired’ and we didn’t even bother going to Crufts in 2017 although she did qualify.
Our Chows are amazing dogs, so chilled-out and sweet natured. I started looking for a suitable stud dog for Sophie so we could breed her in 2017, but couldn’t find one that I liked, so we bought our own! We went for the best of the best – our newest arrival Fergus (born Christmas Eve 2015) is from the famous Kwaitang Chow Chows, and his uncle won Best of Breed at Crufts last year … age only 11 months! Fergus is an absolute diamond, and he loves his fiancée Sophie. They hope to make us some lovely babies when Fergus is old enough.
I’ve put a few photos of Sophie here just now, going from when she was a puppy in the 1st photo, to us at Crufts in March last year. (Excuse my cheesy grin in the last photo, I was quite proud of her!)
